Need to make a start

I have been procrastinating long enough and need to make a start on this before the parts start to become a problem. There are a number of things on the todo list, but none of them are real reasons for at least getting on with some of the basic steps that will not change. I've not decided on some of the fine details, and I also still can't decide if the approach that others have taken in finishing inside walls prior to their assembly into a whole is the right way to go, but I feel while it works for the basement unit, it's not practical for the main house. However applying some of the outside finishes may be easier before joining the bigger elements. Starting at the top and completing the roof section should be an easy starting point anyway and I've more or less decided on the finishes for that.

One job that I CAN get on with is painting all of the window frames and that will take some time. I've added a nice new folding table to the flat which gives me an area 1.8my by 0.7mt at a comfortable working height and I've already used it when building the firat stages of the Dalek. So I can pull all of the frames out of storage and get them laid out to start on them.

Paint has been fun, and I have some rather large pots of white undercoat and finish which were a lot cheaper than smaller pots of anything similar. At least I can use it as a base for all of the parts of the building. The colours for such thing as the terracotta for the chimney pots and the trim for the roof has been a little more difficult, but I do now have the start of an acrylic pallet of paints which will last for years.

I still need to make a start on planning each of the rooms, and it may be that I need to get started on a 3D model of the house. Getting back into FreeCAD is yet another project. When people say that they will have more time when they retire ... it's a myth ... it's just different things that eat up the little time you do have ... and now I need to get the days physio done and out for my daily walk ...

Making a little progress

But adding more items to put on the bitweaver bugs list. I had taken a couple of days to photograph all the accessories that I've already got in stock, and then tidied all the images so they had titles rather than the camera id, and separated them into different folders ready to upload. One simply zips up the set of files and folders and bitweaver creates new galleries for each folder. I forgot that it's too clever and uses the image metadata for the name ... which is the camera name ... need to address that as I had to manually rename all the images. Something that did not take too long given the management tools that do work. I SHOULD update the metadata on each image for the future.

Also needing fixing is the navigation menu to get to the right gallery in the now large tree on the MEDW site, over 220 galleries of images. But the Accessories gallery is working nicely ... but the prettyURL links need fixing as well. Although it's only the likes of Google search that complains about that so there is no rush I think ... and change the default publication date to today ... which I'vejust fixed on this post.

This is just a space hanger at the moment ... need to start pulling things together ...

Also spotted that the list of posts is not allowing you to page back to earlier ones! Cracked that one ...

The calender display of content that other blog software provides is on the TODO list for bitweaver as well.
