The Kress spindle comes with an 8mm collet, so additional collets will be required for the normal tooling, although a pair of 6mm and 3mm or 1/4" and 1/8" will probably cover most tooling requirements.

Gantry Mount Secure

A 6mm spacer lifts the gantry to the exact height to line up with the holes, and working on a flat surface ensures that the gallery will be approximately square with the guide rails. With the Tee Bar Allen key it is fairly easy to align the captive bolt central with the hole so that the bold is gripping equally on both sides of the rail slot.

A Tee Bar Allen key is useful in addition to the supplied ball end set.

Once all the packaging was removed, what remains is three basic modules along with the spindle, mounting block and a pack of ball end Allen keys ( which are essential for assembly ).

Stepper Motor Mount

All three mounting blocks are of the same style, and need the cover removing in order to access the coupling bolts. The holes in the Taig stepper motors needed to be opened a little to fit them with the metric bolts provided.

Kress Mount

The spindle mounting block provides a 42mm diameter hole which matches the mounting on the Kress spindle.

Z Axis Mounted

Even with the ball end Allen keys, gaining access to the six bolts is a little tricky, but by winding the Z Axis down to the table and fitting the 6mm spacer ( although a 25mm one may be more appropriate ) the Z Axis becomes a lot easier to keep square to the table and the gantry block. It is anticipated that little fine adjustment will be needed to square up the Z Axis.

Z Axis Back

The six bolts in the back of the Z module need loosening to allow them to slide onto the gantry block. The three pairs need to align with the holes visible in the gantry block.
