4CC-CapacitorAsm

With the increasing rise in cost of high capacitance, bolt terminated capacitors, an alternative needed to be found. Even having found a few options, the parts for these are also drying up, but this approach is still practical. A 10000uF 50V capacitor is available which has snap connect pins for PCB mounting, but these can be used to attach a terminal block to replace the missing screw terminals. Fitting a high wattage resistor allows the capacitor to be discharged if left unconnected at any time.

Part No Description Price (1off) Notes
11-3113 10000uf 50V Capacitor 1.76
62-8363 3k9 6W Risistor 0.21 Value not critical, but size determines the time taken to discharge
21-3076 4 Way screw to Tag Barrier 0.23 Need an alternative again

Given the small size and lower cost of this capacitor, running more than one in parallel is a practical option. It would be nice to add a capacitor per driver in the 4 channel controller, but there is not enough space when using the 500VA transformer, but a pair could be fitted in parallel, in line with the bridge rectifier.
