SinoScaleKit
Starting to investigate the scales available in the UK, MachineDRO sell the SINO range of product. Scales and mounting brackets/covers. For the Centurion I have obtained a 420mm GS300 scale and and a 'B' type cover to go with it. This will be mounted below the X axis rack, and linked to the bottom of the saddle. The plan is to use it to check out both the DRO350 via a QCC100 dongle, and the DRO:int4 also via the QCC100. It will then be used as the input to the CNC system for driving that axis via the lead screw.
The fitting kit is quite comprehensive, with four brackets and an assortment of bolts, washers and spacers. ( I'll produce a BOM for these shortly, and provide sizes of the screws and spacers.
Four substantial brackets provide a solid link between the head of the scale and the machine. I was about to say the moving part of the machine, but as with the Chinese scales, it may be more practical to secure the scale to the bed of the machine, and keep the reading head in a fixed position. For the Centurion, the head will move with the saddle.
Type 'B' Cover
The 'B' type cover provides a spacer to lift the scale away from the machine, and a right angle cover which deflects swarf and coolant away from the scale itself. This can be permanently secured to the machine, allowing the scale to be removed if required.
